What’s inside

  • A quick cutting chart for finished HST sizes from 1/2 inch to 9 1/2 inches.

  • Starting-square measurements for making 2, 4, 8, 16 or 32 HSTs at a time.

  • A separate illustrated instruction page for every method, including 16 at a time.

  • Finished-size and trim-to-size reminders, plus tips for handling bias edges.

How to use the chart

Find the finished size your quilt needs, then choose your batch size. Cut two squares at the listed measurement—one from each fabric. The measurements include a little extra room so you can press and trim each HST to the size in the “Trim to” column.

Use a 1/4-inch seam and make a test pair before cutting fabric for an entire project. The 4- and 16-at-a-time methods leave stretchy bias edges, so handle those units gently.

Print just what you need

Print page 1 for a quick reference, or add the instruction pages for the methods you use most. The diagrams show sewing and cutting lines; they are not cutting templates.
